20 guides for buying, using and storing household paper.

What does toilet paper really cost per 100 sheets?
The roll count is only the starting point. Divide the checkout price by the actual total sheet count, then multiply by 100. Compare sheet area separately when brands use different dimensions.

Compare paper towels by square foot, not giant rolls
Use the total square feet printed on the package to compare towel quantity. Per-sheet comparisons can mislead when one product uses half sheets and another uses larger perforations.

The tissue-box comparison that avoids count confusion
Compare tissues per box and total tissues per bundle. Ply is the number of layers in one tissue; a three-ply tissue is still one tissue in the package count.

Mega, super and double rolls: read the count behind the name
Ignore the roll-equivalence headline for the first comparison. Actual sheets, dimensions and price provide a more useful comparison between packages.

Store spare toilet paper in a small bathroom without damp packs
Keep the working roll near the toilet and reserves in a dry, accessible cupboard. Avoid storing open paper where splashes or condensation can reach it.

When is a bulk paper purchase actually a saving?
A bulk pack makes sense when the delivered unit price is lower, the product already works for you, and you have dry space for the entire pack.

How to evaluate bamboo toilet paper claims
Treat bamboo as a fiber description, then examine the product certification and the full claim. The material name alone does not prove a product is the best environmental choice.

FSC Mix and Recycled: which paper label are you reading?
Read the certification wording in full. FSC Recycled and FSC Mix are different labels, and a recycle-style graphic on a wrapper is not necessarily either certification.

Are half-sheet paper towels worth choosing?
Half sheets help when your common jobs need a small piece. They do not guarantee lower spending if you keep taking the same total paper area.

Paper napkins or paper towels for the dinner table?
Choose based on the task. Napkins are convenient for place settings; towels are sized and perforated for kitchen jobs. Neither label tells you the exact amount of paper in a serving.

Lotion tissues, plain tissues and fragrance: a label checklist
Start with your preference and the product ingredients. A lotion claim is not proof that a tissue will suit every user, and fragrance-free and unscented wording should be checked on the exact package.

Will a jumbo toilet roll fit your holder?
Measure roll diameter, roll width and clearance to the wall before buying a jumbo pack. Core diameter matters too when a holder uses a fixed spindle.

Where reusable cloths can reduce paper towel use
Use clean reusable cloths for suitable repeated jobs, such as drying a water splash, and keep a clear laundering routine. Do not move a dirty cloth from one task to another.

Set up a guest bathroom with sensible paper supplies
Make the spare roll visible, provide a lined wastebasket and keep the paper dry. A guest should not need to search a private cupboard when the working roll runs out.

Set a paper reorder point from your own usage
Track your own consumption, then reorder when remaining supply is close to expected use during delivery time plus the buffer you choose. There is no reliable one-size-fits-all roll count for every household.

Using paper towels around food: check the package first
Check the exact product instructions for food-contact and microwave use. A household paper label does not automatically authorize every cooking or heating application.

Does more ply mean you should buy it?
Ply tells you the number of layers. It does not independently measure strength, comfort, lint or cost per use, so compare these separately.

Check a paper subscription before accepting the discount
Evaluate the next delivered order price, shipping, quantity and cancellation terms. A first-order coupon alone does not establish that a subscription saves money over time.

Choose pocket tissues for commuting and travel
Choose a packet that protects unused tissues and fits the bag you actually carry. Compare the total tissue count rather than the number of small packets alone.

A ten-minute household paper stock audit
Count usable supplies in one place, note package size and set one reorder rule. This avoids buying a new case while another open pack is hidden elsewhere.
