Assign cloths by task

Assign cloths by job and store clean ones where you reach for paper towels. A plan that requires crossing the house every time is unlikely to change the routine. Keep used cloths separate from clean supplies.

Plan washing before switching

Compare the paper you actually avoid with laundry needs and convenience. We do not claim an exact environmental or dollar saving because washing, drying, fabric choice and household use change the result.

Keep food safety separate

Use disposable paper when appropriate to the mess and cleaning instructions. A cloth or towel does not replace cleaning and sanitizing steps required for a contaminated food-contact surface. Follow public-health and product-label guidance for those tasks.

Before you decide

  • Separate clean and used cloths.
  • Wash cloth towels often as FDA advises.
  • Do not replace required surface cleaning with a simple wipe.
